I was reading an atricle in Dirt Bike Magazine titled "Dirt bikers are stupid" and I was able to relate to the experience of the author. Now, I wont say it is ALL dirt bike or ATV riders but there is always a group out there when we go riding. You know the ones, they don't wear helmets, they ride into your camp sites and do donuts, they play their music so loud that you can't enjoy your own. Dont' get me wrong, I remember what it's like to be young and invincible but it's still annoying when you've got that going on when you're trying to enjoy your weekend. If that's how you want spend your riding time, then go find a nice secluded spot further out and have a blast. Bottom line, we all need to be aware of who and what is around us when we're in the staging area or camp sites. Some one's gonna get hurt BAD because of the few riders that have no common sense. These are also the same people that leave their trash every where. Bring trash bags with you, it's not difficult. And for God sake, stop throwing beer bottles and cans on the trails. It's not only dangerous, it's making our desert and mountain trails ugly and dirty. This is how our riding trails get shut down. Learn to have fun while not ruining things for the people around you.

The local racers in this area are feeling the pains of stupid riders.....
Rolling Eyes
There was a group of racing in the Springfield, Illinois area and they brought there race bikes into the hotel rooms and did repair on them. Leaving an oily mess in many rooms and did some extensive "partying". When it came time for our local racers to run at DuQuoin they were all dismayed that the closest hotel no longer accepted the AMA card for a discount and instead were charged much more for there room....
Mad
Only takes a few (actually only one) idiots to ruin things for many....

Same here in Coulterville - we used to ride our quads all over town until a few riders got out of hand....

Luckily we don't have people in our group that are like that. There are some that need a little pushing to wear their helmets but for the most part, we ride with a great group of people. Riding areas all over are either being shut down or have Rangers/COPS all over the place. Not that I have anything against them (I grew up in a family of Law Enforcers) but it does put a damper on the feeling of the weekend.

I say take it a step further even and try to leave your riding place a little nicer than when you got there...stop along the trail and pick up that Bud can or water bottle...take the crap out of the fire ring that won't burn and throw it away...if everyone did that, our favorite places would get clean in a hurry...Tread Lightly - but tread...preferably with 4 tires...sliding sideways! On that note, it would be good for those that go shooting to clean up as well. Leaving broken targets and shells make for a mess too. These are things our kids and animals will get into and it's not safe for them. It's not that hard to clean up after yourself but it sure can be a hassle cleaning up for your camping neighbors. It's not up to one person, it's up to all of us to keep our riding areas open.
